We offer rapid mobile testing for COVID19. We are available for mobile testing in the Greater Calgary area (Calgary/Okotoks/Foothills/East/Airdrie etc).
We are also COVID-19 testing Administrators for companies participating in government funded testing programs. If your company is taking part in one of the testing programs and you need help administering tests and/or results, we can assist and organize your program by working with your Supervisors and HSE teams.
If you have booked and confirmed a rapid COVID19 test with us, please follow this link to fill out your questionnaire before our arrival. This ensure minimal contact and a quick and easy test.
What is a rapid COVID19 test?
A rapid test is an antigen based test - a nasal swab test that detects specific proteins on the surface of the COVID19 virus. Antigen tests are licensed and approved for use under Health Canada for symptomatic patients, and can also be used for screening patients in various environments (such as workplaces, schools, etc). Test results are given in 15 minutes.
Why do I need a rapid test?
After more than a year of lockdowns and outbreaks, everyone is ready to see this pandemic over. However, until a large community immune response is achieved through natural immunity from infection and vaccination efforts (most experts agree that this is 80% of the population), COVID19 will continue to affect us. Rapid testing, especially in the workplace, can help to avoid unnecessary shutdowns by identifying asymptomatic patients and keeping them isolated and out of the workplace where COVID19 can spread rapidly. Rapid testing is done quickly and reliably and being a mobile business, we are able to mitigate and reduce the risk of employees travelling to various locations for testing.
What if I have symptoms of COVID19? Can I still be tested?
Yes, you can and SHOULD be tested. Currently, the wait time for testing through an AHS facility is several days and results can take anywhere from 12-36 hours, on average. Rapid testing can identify COVID19 antigens quickly which means you can enter your isolation period sooner and avoid spreading the infection further.
A symptomatic positive case DOES NOT require further AHS testing if a positive result is delivered with a rapid test. WorkSafe will communicate results with patients and AHS, and patients are then required to isolate according to AHS regulations and to fill out a Contact Tracing Form to identify potential close contacts.
I was identified as a close contact, can I get a rapid test?
Yes, especially if you live with or work with immunocompromised people. A rapid screening test can identify early or asymptomatic infection for close contacts.
I tested positive on a rapid test but I don't have symptoms? What happens next?
If someone tests positive with a rapid test but has no COVID19 symptoms, they are required to book a test at an AHS facility or calling 811 as soon as possible. This test will then be sent to the lab for further diagnostic testing. You must isolate while waiting for your test results.
I tested negative on a rapid test, can I return to work/school?
If you test negative on a rapid COVID19 test, it means that you currently don't possess the antigens for COVID19. That does not mean that you won't test positive in the future. A negative test means you are negative at that point in time. If you develop symptoms after testing negative, you must isolate and re-test. If you are without symptoms and you test negative, you can return to work or school. Practice social distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands often, and clean and disinfect surfaces frequently.
What should I have for my appointment?
UPDATE APRIL 16, 2021:
WorkSafe Occupational Health is now performing mobile rapid COVID19 tests. Our focus is return-to-work for employees and employers who require a COVID19 test for their workplace. Our certified and trained staff will arrive in full PPE and staff/employees will be required to have their temperature taken and fill out a COVID19 exposure questionnaire.
Please call us or book your COVID19 rapid test online. We will contact you to confirm your appointment and give you details on what to expect.
We thank everyone for your cooperation and understanding.
UPDATE JUNE 8, 2020:
As more and more companies get back to work, the need for mobile drug and alcohol testing becomes more important. Many employees have either been laid off for several months or have been working from home and it is important to make sure those employees are ready to return-to-work, which might include a drug test. If your company is hiring back a large amount of employees at once and need occupational health services quickly, call us for on-site testing. We are available 24 hours a day and can perform after hours testing for dozens of employees if need be.
We are NOT offering COVID19 testing at this time. There are far too many unknowns and we want to ensure that any testing performed is reliable, accurate, and approved by the Federal Government of Canada.
We are excited to get back to work and assist companies with their Occupational Health services programs. We understand that many companies are feeling overwhelmed at the thought of bringing employees back to work and we want to be able to assist them as much as possible to take the heavy workload of managing testing off their shoulders.
UPDATE MARCH 31, 2020:
The Government of Alberta has released a list of "essential service" companies that are allowed to remain open and operational during the COVID19 pandemic. Many of our clients are listed as essential services and still require Occupational Testing to be performed. As such, our business provides testing and is deemed an essential service.
We are still OPEN and ready to perform all testing ON-SITE at your location.
We know this is an incredibly stressful time for everyone. We are here to serve you as best as we can and for services that we are still allowed to offer. At this time all spirometry, lung function, and custom ear plugs services are not available due to our efforts to increase social distancing.
Thank you for your support and should you have ANY questions about testing at this time, don't hesitate to call us any time - day or night.
UPDATE MARCH 20, 2020:
The ongoing COVID19 pandemic has affected literally everyone around the globe. From individuals, to small businesses, to large corporations, not a single person on earth has been left untouched by the ramifications of measures put in to place to try and stop the spread of COVID19.
We at WorkSafe are dedicated to ensuring business can go on, as normally as possible, for our clients. We are a 100% mobile business, therefore making it much easier to have employees tested for occupational health testing if required.
We understand that many companies have either shut down or are running on very limited crews, as a part of social distancing. If the need should arise for occupational testing, including drug & alcohol post incident testing, know that we are here to serve you - at your site.
We take every precaution to ensure all equipment is fully sanitized between each client, and test kits, breath alcohol mouthpieces, and urine cups are sterile from packaging.
If you require occupational health testing at this time in the Calgary area, do not send your employees offsite for testing. Call us first and we will formulate a plan to have your testing done at your worksite.
We ask that anyone who has travelled in the last 3 weeks wait to have their testing done until their self isolation is complete. We also will NOT test anyone with symptoms of a cough or fever.
